Pennsylvania Route 144 (PA 144) is a state highway located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, covering a distance of 109.3 miles (164 km). The southern terminus is located at U.S. Route 322 in Potter Township while the northern terminus is located at U.S. Route 6 in Galeton. Between Snow Shoe and Renovo, PA 144 is known as the High Plateau Scenic Byway, a Pennsylvania Scenic Byway.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=High Plateau )〕 == History == PA 144 was first designated by its current number in 1928. The route was paved between Carter Camp and Germania in 1932. The portion of the route between Galeton and Germania was completed in 1935 and the southern terminus of the route was moved from Carter Camp to Moshannon. In the following years, several sections of PA 144 were paved, including the section from Sproul State Forest to the Clinton County line in 1936 and around Cross Fork and within the Sproul State Forest in 1938. In 1940, more of the road was paved; the newly paved sections ran from the southern edge of the Sproul State Forest to the Clinton County line, within the Sproul State Forest, and from the Clinton County line to Cross Fork. PA 144 was extended south to Potters Mills in 1967. In 1969, the road was built into a divided highway from then-U.S. Route 220 to Milesburg.〔
